So we are in Rome! This was actually a surprise trip for Bogdan’s birthday and so far we’ve eaten way more carbs than you could shake a panini at, walked more than we could possibly imagine and commented on just how amazing the architecture is. Today we went on an awesome tour with @theromanguy where we explored the Colosseum, Palatine Hill and the Roman Forum. I learnt so much and it just boggles my mind to think we were walking through such a historical place. We learnt how there is no record of the first gladiator killed at the colosseum nor the architect (because they were a slave), we walked down a preserved path that was 2,600 years old and we even saw the spot where Julius Caesar was cremated! Not bad for a morning when usually I applaud myself for replying to a few emails. The rest of the day saw me hobbling around the city as last night I wore a pair of new shoes for dinner. Lesson number 1: NEVER, EVER wear new shoes for the first time on a trip. My feet are covered in blisters and an evening at our hotel’s spa has just about managed to make them feel somewhat human again. Buona notte! Oh Italy.
I was hoping to get a blog post up today but the weekend took over with an impromptu visit to The Wirral and now I’m curled up on the couch feeling sorry for myself as my nose just won’t stop sneezing, so I thought I’d check in with a little post here. In February I decided I wanted to make the most of my spare time in between life, work, searching for our next getaway and general adulting stuff and so I challenged myself to get back into reading. It was something I used to enjoy so much, but for some weird reason it always seems so much easier to pick up a phone nowadays than a book (totally sounding like my Nana there). In February I read the amazing Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine and I loved it. On one page it made me cry, the other I was literally laughing out loud. Once I finished the book I felt quite sad and a bit of a lost as to what to read next. But then I remembered a few months ago, I received Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale which was just lurking on my bookshelf. I’m now 20-odd chapters in and having read it about 10 years ago for my GCSEs or A-levels (I can’t remember which one), it’s so interesting to re-read it with a slightly different outlook. And you know what? I’m proud to have stuck to my reading challenge - small steps and all that. So with this in mind do you have any good book recommendations for me? Or something you’re currently reading and absolutely loving? I love fiction books and although I did sign up to Good Reads I sometimes feel a bit overwhelmed by the amount of options! While there’s no new blog post today hopefully this has been a bit of a mini-blog as I share some of the things I’m feeling proud of and really enjoying atm. Oh and hey look an actual new photo on my grid - yay maybe that beats a new blog post after all! . . . . #findingthejoyineveryday #thehappynow #weekendmode #ukbloggers #lifestyleblogger #lbloggeruk #momentsofmine #theuncoolclub #bookstagram #ahandmaidstale #theeverydaygirl
Is it weird that I am still wearing my fluffy/Christmas pyjamas and will probably do so until at least July? As I haven’t posted on Instagram in what seems like forever, I thought I would say hello and here’s a photo of the best puppy dog in the whole world! Even though we were only on the Wirral last weekend, I really want to go back for more cuddles and a walk on the beach! Speaking of which, I recently posted on my blog about doing just that. Max was pretty confused about where we were taking him, but he was rather exited once his little paws hit the sand! Whilst I’m on the whole blog topic, I’ve been busy writing lots of posts - I think there are about 20 lined up and almost ready to go... I just need to hit the publish button! So hopefully you’ll be hearing a lot more from the blog whether it’s a recent adventure we’ve been on or just something that’s on my mind. Anyways, I think I’ve written enough for any caption so I’ll leave it here as I go and find my penguin pyjamas. #rockandroll #iforgothowtoinstagram . . . . #blogger #weblogmcr #manchesterblogger #lifestyleblogger #lifestyle #wirral #lifeathome #bordercolliesofinstagram #bordercollie
Hallo from Nuremberg, Germany! After a busy day exploring the town and markets, we headed to the Documentation Centre which was a very eye-opening and interesting experience. Tonight we’re looking forward to heading out for some German food (read - sausages), beer and maybe a few glasses gluhwein!
Our trip to Lisbon feels like so long ago. And while I’m still thinking about those orange rooftop and pastel-coloured tiles (not to mention pastel de natas), I’m excited for our next adventure. This time we’ll be going somewhere with a lot of beer, sausages and an interesting history - oh and not to mention, rain!
I have another blog post for you over on Brew & Bloom! As I’m wrapped up in my owl onesie, with a glass of Vimto & wine, waiting for our bangers and mash to be ready - I can’t help but dream about dipping my toes into the pool at @casamae, Lagos. Although to be fair, I wouldn’t mind sinking into the suite’s free standing bath tub with bubbles up to my eyes! Anyways, if you fancy a bit of sunshine yourself, head over to the blog for our Casa Mae experience - trust me you’ll be booking a flight & train over before you can say “can I have another mojoto?!
